Control Cabinet Marking Overview

Why should you mark?

The purpose of reference marking is to ensure fast and clear identification of equipment throughout its entire life cycle. Proper marking allows products, wires, and cables to be identified at a glance, making your control cabinet easier to maintain, service, and organize.

What should be marked?

Everything in and around a control cabinet can be marked: conductors (wires), terminal blocks, power systems, push buttons, and control elements. Of course, nameplates as well as safety and CE signs are also essential.

Standards and requirements

In industrial control cabinet manufacturing, structured and standard-compliant labeling systems according to DIN EN 81346, DIN EN 60445, and VDE 0660 are essential for safe commissioning, maintenance, and documentation of electrical systems.

Markings must be abrasion-resistant, UV-resistant, and chemical-resistant to ensure long-term legibility, even under demanding industrial environmental conditions.
